The Cousins

We went to Minnesota for Jackson's baby blessing over the weekend.
Here is the first post of pictures from the weekend.

The cousins in Jackson's crib together. (I guess you have to be under 6 months old to be mesmerized by the mobile.)
Gretta enjoyed reading Jackson & Eliza books.

Eliza enjoyed watching Jackson's mobile with him.

Here is something my sister wrote about the weekend that I took from her blog....

"Ready for the story, guys?" is what Gretta asked Jackson & Eliza when she was reading to them in Jackson's crib. Gretta always cracks me up! "It's kind of cold in Minnesota" is another line that cracked me up. You don't know what cold is Gretta! We had a lovely weekend with highs in the 60s/70s. I think it would be wise for Gretta to not come visit in January!
I agree us California's don't know what cold weather really is, and that is why we are staying in California. We sure had a great time and wish we got to see you more often.

South Pasadena Fire Department

Today at our PCC class a South Pasadena Fire Truck and an Ambulance showed up to class. Captain Riddle and his crew showed off what the firefighters wear, how the hose sprays water, and told kids not to be scared of the firemen. I admit I can now see why they say sometimes a scared child doesn't call out to them when they go into to save them. They look pretty scary in all of their gear. Gretta was actually even to scared to get close to the fire truck or anything related to the fire truck. They let the kids spray their hose, but she also wasn't interested in that. Oh well.
I took one picture of her with the ambulance. I will post it later.
It was a fun educational morning. They said the fire station has an open door policy and that they are always willing to show the kids around. I think we might have to make a visit to see if we can calm Gretta's fears.

Second hand store find!

Gretta has been telling me for a while that she wants to be Snow White for Halloween. I think it is because they do a Snow White dance at her dance class. One day while she was at preschool I went to TJmaxx in LaCanada and found a beautiful Disney Snow White dress just her size that was beautiful. I was so excited. I just knew that she was going to be so happy. When I went to pick her up at preschool and showed her the dress she didn't get to excited. In fact, she acted sad. When I asked her what was wrong she told me she wanted to be the "pink" princess. I knew I should have bought all three princess dress and let her pick, but it was to late.
The next week when I went back to look they were all gone. I went to the second hand store looking for something else, and this is what I found.... Score. The funny thing was that when I showed it to Gretta she got all excited, but then she told me she wanted Daddy to be Snow White, so the dress wouldn't have to go back. She is pretty smart. I actually think she is going to have to wear the Snow White dress for trick or treating because the pink dress is a little long and hard to walk in. So she lucked out!

Cinderella costume. One size fits most for $4.50

The smallest Cinderella you have ever seen.

Sleeping beauty dress for $8.50. What a great deal. It is a really Disney one with a hoop skirt.

Sunday

Here are some pictures from our Sunday...
Here is a picture of Eric watching Conference with the girls. Gretta thought it was cool that church was on the TV because she LOVES the TV,but missed nursery. She loves to see her friends a church.
ELiza is getting into technology at an early age.
Gretta helped Eliza check her email.
Matching!!!
Gretta picked out an outfit to match Eliza's outfit this morning. I think I am going to have to buy them some outfits that match now.

140 MPH!!!!

Growing up on the streets of Los Angeles, the mantra on the roads are "kill or be killed". Well, a couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go test my need for speed at the Auto Club speedway as part of a Bank of America Fantasy Camp event. It was AWESOME! I had never been to a speedway or NASCAR event before. Those who have gone have told me that it is a near religious experience. I showed up to the raceway and went all the way to the pit crew section of the track. There we had the opportunity to race Chevy Corvettes on a short track going around a coned track as fast as we could without knocking over any cones. My 2nd attempt came out at 24 seconds, which was just tenths of a second off the 3rd place finisher (I would have gotten a prize!!). The main event came as we got to go on the big track and put the pedal to the metal!! It was pretty trusting of them to put us in stock race cars after only asking us if we new how to drive a stick shift - no driving test - book or otherwise!! So there was a professional in a car in front of me who was in charge of pacing me and then I followed behind him about 3 car lengths. For those who haven't driven on a banked track, you can really feel the G's. My average speed for the 8 laps was 140mphs. I'm convinced I could have gone faster if the pace car had let me. I think they kept everyone checked at 140 for safety reasons. The surreal part of the whole experience was driving around at 140mph realizing that I could easily die if I made one wrong move. You may laugh, but, honestly all the Mario Kart playing I had growing up as a kid really paid off. In order to not get scared witless, I basically approached the driving as if I were playing a video game. All in all, I had a great time and who knows maybe the Fors Family will become NASCAR fanatics in the near future.

Way to go Dad!!!

I copied this post from my Dad's blog. Way to go Dad!!!

Western Construction Inc. had 30 days to reconstruct the 9000 foot runway at the Idaho Falls Airport. We completed the 8.5 million dollar project and actually opened 6 hours early. I have never been involved building such a perfect project to such demanding specifications. I can't believe how good our team is. Without sounding too boastful, I don't think there's another contractor in the area that could have done it. We're genuine hero's in the eyes of the airport manager, Len Nelson. We worked 24 hours a day for the first 15 days and then we were able to perform all the asphalt paving work in daylight hours. Great weather helped.I can't believe the talented bunch I get to work with. Ed, Marilyn, Grant, Randy, Rick, Ron, Pinky and Neil are the best!!
