MONDAY
We arrived Monday late afternoon. It took us 12 hours door to door. My dad drove us to the airport. His flight was to leave at the same time as ours, 12:00 noon. We drove through a HUGE thunderstorm on the way to the airport. It was as dark as night and raining so hard even with the wipers on high it was hard to see. I am so glad my dad was driving. Due to the big thunderstorm they had closed the airport for a while, so all of the flights were delayed. My Dad's to Denver was only 30 mins, but ours was 1 hour and 40 mins. Luckily we meet a nice family in the airport and the girls played with their kids and toys. That made the time go by a lot faster. The flight from Midway to LAX is 4 hours 30 mins. Gretta & Eliza did great. Eliza feels asleep right as we got took off and slept for at least 1hour 30 mins. We had super nice fight attendants and the girls really good.It wasn't as bad and it thought it was going to be. Luckily the Ipod kept them entertained for a hour until the battery went dead and our other toys kept them occupied most of the rest of the time. Linda picked us up and we experienced some good old LA traffic on the way home. So door to door 12 hours!
TUESDAY
Tuesday we had some friends over for a pool party. Gretta was so excited to have a pool party. She has wanted to go swimming all summer in a pool, and our options in Michigan are pretty poor. She was excited to buy food and get all ready for the party. She is really a fish and can swim all by herself in the pool now. We had a great time with our friends. Linda was even able to join us for a little while after nursing school. Eliza also warmed up quite a bit to being in the water.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday my friend Kerri, was nice enough to go to Disneyland with us. She has a Silver Pass, so we were able to get a discount on the tickets. Brittany also came with us. Boy do I miss our Disneyland passes. I think besides the perfect weather going to Disneyland on a bi-monthly basis is what I miss most about living in LA. It just felt so special to get to go so often.
We sure had a great time.
Gretta, Brittany & Tyler
Dylan, Kerri, Austin, Eliza
Eliza & Me
Eliza LOVES the carousel. She was so excited I let her ride it twice. Even with all of the other cool rides she still stays that the, "Up down" is her favorite.
While the grown ups and Gretta went on Space Mountain we took turns watching the kids by this large moving ball of stone.
Eliza put her bangs in the water to cool off.
I think that Autopia comes in a close as Eliza's 2nd favorite ride. She LOVED driving all by herself. She always tells me that she wants to drive the car herself! I keep reminding her she needs a license. She jerked us around a few times. Dylan was riding with us too. He looked at me and said, "She needs help! You help her!" He was tired of getting bumped all around.
This is Eliza waiting outside Big Thunder Mountain. Gretta rode it 3 times. Twice with Brittany and once with me. She rode with her arms up the whole time. She is a dare devil. I am a little worried about how she is going to be as a teenager. She loves roller coasters already.
I think Brittany has more pictures of our Disneyland adventures. We also went over to California Adventure and rode Monsters, saw the Disney Chanel Show, rode Soaring over California, and saw the huge new water show. It was amazing!!!!
We sure had a fun time. We didn't wait in to many lines, and we got to ride a lot of rides. We stayed until 10:00pm. It was a great day.
THURSDAY
Thursday morning we saw in the pool and then headed over to one of our friends houses to play. A lot of girls from our old ward were there. It was good to see everyone. Gretta especially liked seeing all of her old friends.
Then after naps we headed back to South Pasadena to see Sara Knapp who I use to Visiting Teach. It was good to catch up with Sara. After our visit we headed to the Farmers Market. Some of our old favorites were missing the papusa stand and bubble guy were missing, but the girls liked the balloon guy.
Eliza got a doggie on a walking stick.
Gretta got a jester hat and dog too.
We had a good time walking around.
Then we went home and helped Grandma and Brittany make brownies.
To top off the night we made a trip to Yogurtland. Neither Linda or Brittany had been there before. Gretta made sure to show them the ropes. We actually ran into one of my old co-workers there too. Even in LA it's a small world.
It was a fun day full of our favorite thinks about LA.
FRIDAY
I went to the Sample Sale with Suzette while Gretta & Eliza played at here house with Sage Hatch babysitting. Gretta loves to play at Izzy's and they all love Sage. The only sad thing is when we got home Eliza was a sleep on Izzy's bed. She had been telling me all week her ear hurt. She screamed when we landed on Monday. I was just hoping it would clear up on it's own, but she was getting worse. Luckily I can still write prescriptions in California so I called in some medicine for her. She turned the corner pretty fast, but it was still sad to see her so sick.
I got some good stuff at the sample sale. A new diaper bag for me, a blanket for Gretta she has been asking for a while, a backpack for Eliza like Gretta's "Monkey" bag and two cute dresses for them to wear to the rehearsal dinner that night. I also found some good baby shower presents. So it was a huge successes. Oh I miss the Sample Sale too. My wallet however doesn't miss it.
On the way home we picked up Aubree and she came over to swim at Grandma's. They were so funny in the back seat of the Minivan telling Knock, Knock jokes and laughing. They are so funny together. They have been friends from the day Aubree was born!
Eliza showing off her new backpack from the Sample Sale.
After Aubree went home Linda, Brittany, both Allison's and I got Mani-pedi's in preparation for the big event.
Eric arrived. He didn't have any problems with his flight. It left about 30 mins late, but after he got here he spend 2 hours in LA traffic coming home.
Then off to the rehearsal dinner.
It was a super fun week filled with our family and friends.
