Thanksgiving 2008

The whole gang at Dennis and Linda's house. Left to right: Consuelo, Alicia, Carolina, Stephanie, Issac, Darron, Jerry, Breanne, Dennis, Linda, Eliza, Gretchen, Eric, Gretta, Allison, Rodrigo,Allan, and Papa
We had a very nice Thanksgiving Dinner!

Thanksgiving Pies

I was in charge of bring pies to Thanksgiving dinner. The first year that Eric and I were married I tried to make pumpkin pie, but it didn't turn out so good. After that Eric has actually encouraged me to buy the pies. I bought two pumpkin pies and two pecan pies at Trader Joe's for the family, and then had a request for apple. I don't really like store bought apple pies, so I decided to make two. Eric helped core, cut and peal the apples. I bought pre-made pie crusts which were good, but I didn't realize needed to thaw 60-90 minutes before I could use them. So it took a little longer than I thought it was going to take to make the pies. They turned out great. Sorry I don't have an after picture. They definitely were better than the store bought Trader Joe's pies. Maybe next year I can try to make the pumpkin and pecan.

The day before Thanksgiving family fun!!!

The day before Thanksgiving we went to see Bolt at the Americana in 3 D. It is a Fors Family tradition to go to the movies over the weekend. We went to Bolt as a family on Wednesday, and then all of the girls went to see 'Twilight" on Friday. So it was a movie weekend.
A family friend of ours Aurthur Shek worked on Bolt. It was so fun to see his name in the credits!
Here are some pictures from our fun pre-thanksgiving festivities.

Gretta and Brittany sporting the 3D glasses. They didn't fit Gretta very well, so she watched most of the movie without them which made it blurry, but she seemed okay with it. Maybe it was the popcorn and M&M's her dad bought her.

The 108 foot tall Christmas tree. They say it is real. Do you believe them??? I don't know it looks a little to perfect to be real.

Thanksgiving FHE with the Grandma and Papa

Sunday night we had Dennis and Linda over for dinner, and then we had a special Thanksgiving Family Home Evening. Gretta enjoyed putting the fruits and vegetable in the cornucopia. We have much to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving season. We are grateful for each other, for our family, our friends, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our jobs, our warm apartment, and enough to provided for our needs.
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

The cutest little Indian.

Matching Red Dresses

I bought the girls matching red dresses for fall.
Gretta loves matching with Eliza, and it is so much fun to buy them matching cloths. Eliza age 7 months, and Gretta almost 3 years old. All ready for church.
Sisters!!! The cutest girls ever!!!

Dim Sum

On Saturday we went to Dim Sum with my MTC teacher, Anita Au Flint. She grew up in Arcadia, but now lives in Huntington Beach with her husband and two kids. She was up in Arcadia for a visit, so we went to lunch. Dim Sum isn't may favorite Chinese food, but it is a great experience. We never go because it is really hard for me to pick out the things I like as they come around the room. I also never know how much it is all going to cost, or what I actually paid for. I figured since I had a more experienced Dim Sum goer we should go and take the whole family.
Gretta loves Chinese food, but the American kind like Panda Express. I wasn't sure how she would do with Dim Sum, but she did pretty well. I think she is really yellow at heart like me:)
Going to Dim Sum in Arcadia was like going back to my mission. Everyone was speaking Cantonese, and the jocking for parking spots, dinner reservation, and ignoring the white girl because she can't understand us is just like Hong Kong. It is always so funny to me when I tell someone something in Cantonese to see their SHOCKED expression.
We had a great time and hope to see Anita soon. Next time however, I think we will need to hit Panda Express, PF Chang or New Moon. I think this was my once annual Dim Sum visit.

Eric and Gretta. Gretta had an especially good time because one of her favorite TV shows lately has been an "Aurthur" where Pinky and his family go to China and adopt a little girl.

Twilight

The whole gang + Dori's husband just before the movie started.

Elizabeth, me, Debbie, Carrie and Desi all waiting in line to get good seats.

Last night a group of my girl friends and I went to see Twilight. I admit I too got sucked into the books. I started Twilight over 4th of July weekend and finished the first three just in time to read the 4th book, Breaking Dawn, right after it was released. I think I neglected my mom one weekend when she came to visit because I was so obsessed with reading Eclipse. I am sure I neglected Eric and the kids too. It had just been so long since I had read something I couldn't put down.

About 20 girls from church went last night. We weren't the oldest ones in the theatre, but I have never been in a movie where teenage girls screamed so loud. It was quite the experience.

It was pretty good. Some of the things weren't quite as I had imagined them in my mind, but it was still good.

If you haven't read it yet I would recommend Twilight for a good, easy, and entertain read. Plus some nice Mormon girl who is just 4 years old than I am wrote it. It is so nice to see someone who graduated from BYU be so successful. I wish her all the best.
