No Photos

Eric left for China today with the MBA program. He took our camera with him, so no more pictures from Provo for a while. I am sure he will have lots of pictures from China when he gets back.
I so wish I was going to China too, but hope he has a great time. Hopefully someday we get to go together.

So far since he left...
*One fish of the two goldfish we bought on Monday has already died. Luckily the girls aren't as attached this time. I thought goldfish were suppose to be easier than beta fish, but so far it's not working out as well.
*Gretta helped me pull of ton of weeds, and I did a lot of yard work. It looks a lot better.
*Gretta got accepted to BYU's preschool next year! Yeah! She is so excited to go to BYU like her dad. (They only do the 4 year old year, so she wasn't old enough to go last fall.)
*Eric sat next to the Love Sac guy on his flight from LAX to Japan en route to Shanghi. He was on that Richard Branson show a while ago. I am sure Eric pick his brain about starting a business as long as he would let him.
*We all already miss Eric. It was so fun to have him around the house more this last week. Once he gets back from China he leaves straight for Michigan. We are going out a few weeks later, so Gretta can finish up preschool & dance. It sounded like a better idea on paper than in real life.

PS. If you live close you are welcome to come to her dance recital on May 15th and her graduation from preschool on the 18th. Let me know and I will give you the details.

Random post: Packing for China & Michigan

Eric took these pictures while he was packing for China and Michigan. I was at work and he was watching the girls. He had them help out. They enjoyed putting all of their stuff in the suitcases. To bad I had to put all of their stuff back later.

This kid loves chocolate! That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows me. See if all over her face and she is raising her hand asking for some more chocolate chips.

Kindergarten shots

This picture is from today. The shots were yesterday.

So for lots of reasons I won't go into the BYU Student Health Center doesn't give the kids their immunizations at their well child check ups. You have to go the County Health Department to get them. Eric agreed to help me take the kids to get there shots. I know Eliza needed at least 3 shots, but wasn't sure how many Gretta would need to be up today for kindergarten.
It turns out that Eliza needed 3 and Gretta needed 6. Six is the maximum they will give a child on any day. I debated what to do because she hates shots so much. I decided to go for it and have her get all 6. I was afraid she would never go back. She told me she was going to be brave.
I am so sad I made that decision.
I had put EMLA cream on one of Gretta's arms and both of Eliza's thighs before we left home. I didn't have any occlusive dressing, so I just used band-aids. It doesn't work as well, but I figured something was better than nothing. Well I think I was wrong. The nurse was rude again about the EMLA cream. I had the some response last time. I think she purposely placed the shots around the site of the EMLA cream in Gretta's left arm. I can tell because I can see all of the injections sites in that arm because they are red and bruised, and they are AROUND where I put the cream. I have NEVER seen such bruising with immunizations before.
The picture doesn't even do it justice.
Luckily her left arm doesn't seem to be bothering her much. But I plan on writing the County Health Department a letter. In ALL my hears of nursing I have never seen someone give shots so horribly. First semester nursing students do a better job.
I am just glad Gretta doesn't need any more immunizations until she is 11 and Eliza until she is 4, so no more shots at the Utah County Health Department for us!

Way to go Eric!

Eric is done with finals! Yeah!!! He has officially finished his first year of MBA school. He did well and we are really proud of him. Now that he is done we are trying to enjoy his company as much as possible because he leaves for China on Saturday for 10 days. He come back May 5th just in time to drive to Michigan. Luckily he found a friend to drive with him because he is going to have bad jet lag. We leave the 22nd to join him.
It has been so fun to have him home with us more. Here are some pictures of what we have been up too.

Bowling at the Wilk. Gretta is getting better. She can get the ball herself and orient the stand.

Age 2

We took 2 year old pictures when I was in Boise, but I don't have them yet.
I took Eliza for her well child check up today.
Here are her stats:
Height 35 inches......75%
Weight 27lbs.....50%
Head Circumference 60%

Here are some of the things Eliza can do...

1. Has a very large vocabulary. She seems to learn at least a new word everyday. She also speaks in 3 work sentences. One of the ones she uses a lot is, "Mom, She being mean." Talking about Gretta. She often runs up to me and tells me this. She is very expressive.

2. Runs, climbs, walks alone up and down stairs.
3. Tries to use scissors and can scribble.
4. She loves to play dog.
5. She loves to play mommy. She is a very good mommy to her dolls
6. She is a dare devil. She loves to jump from the ottoman to the couch or from the chair to the love sac.
7. She finally has enough hair for two small pig tails.
8. She loves to brush her teeth and get ready with me in the morning.
9. Eating well with a spoon, fork and can drink from a cup.
10. Loves to be read to. Her favorite book is, "Green Eggs & Ham"
11. Can blow bubbles.
12. Loves to "drive" the car
13. Is learning how to say prayers. She will volunteer and then you have to tell her what to say. It is so cute.

We love you Eliza and are so glad you are in our family. You have such a fun personality.
Love,
Mom & Dad

Good bye Rainbow

The Rainbow died. I killed him accidentally. I changed it's water on Saturday night and put it in another bowl to let the water warm up the the chlorine dissipate. I thought the water was to high in the other bowl, but was worried if I pour some out he would go down the drain with it.
But, the water was too high.
He tried to escape during the night and Eric found him dead on the counter Sunday morning.
Gretta cried. I am sad too.
We flushed him down the toilet to the sea. (Like in Nemo.) Then Eliza cried. She didn't really know what was going on up to that point.

Eric is going to take her to the store today and let her pick out a new fish. She wants a red one. She wants to name it Rainbow Charlie 81 the second.

Happy 2nd Birthday Eliza!!!

April 17, 2010

Gretta helping Eric mow the law. Welcome to spring!

After our chores we went to lunch at In-N-Out and then to Chuck E Cheese. Poor Eliza was so sick at her party in Boise we decided to go again. She felt a lot better today and had a good time. She was so excited she got 20 free tokens for her birthday. She kept jingling the cup and saying, "My Money."

Some girl caught a ride.

This one wasn't her favorite, she kept trying to get out.

Then we had a little party with the neighbor kids, Eric's siblings and our friends Amanda, Chris & Bryant.

Oprah

Click here to view these pictures larger

Anna was lucky enough to get 4 tickets to Oprah and she was kind enough to share one with me. Yeah! Anna once told my mom she was raised by our dog, Daisy, and Oprah because Anna and I would watch Oprah every afternoon after school when we were in Jr High and High School. So it was so fun to be able to finally see her in person.

My mom and I flew to Chicago on Wednesday afternoon, and Anna and her friend Lindsey drove to Chicago. We all met up at the hotel just in time to go to dinner. I am especially proud of my mom and myself because we figured out how to ride the orange line from the airport into downtown to our hotel. We saved over $35 dollars in cab fare one way. Way to go us! Anna and Lindsey were able to score free valet parking at the hotel which was worth $40. So our luck was good.
We went to eat at a nice Italian restaurant not far from the hotel. The food was excellent. Then we went to be early because we had to be in line for Oprah at 7:00am. They wouldn't tell us the topic of the show even when we were in line. They checked everyone in and then made us wait in a big room. (Part of the check in process is to look through your whole bag and take out all of the paper, camera's and phones, so I don't have any pictures from inside. Which is sad!)
Then once everyone is checked in they call your parties name to seat you. We were about the 5th party called. We got seated in the 4th row on the right side. I was right by the cat walk. We were also looking right at Oprah's chair. Great seats!!!! Yeah. Our luck continued.
The topic of the show was, "The other Wes Moore." It was all about people who have the same name.
After the show she talked with the audience and answered questions. I was struck with how nice gracious of a host she was. She thanked everyone for coming, and getting babysitters and making a big effort.
I stood up and told her about how Gretta and I have the same name and that people at the airport always ask me, "Do you know you have the same name?" Got to love TSA. She asked me why two T's, but I didn't hear her questions. I still could believe I was taking with Oprah!!!
We had a great time. It was something to always remember and will be talked about for years to come.

Sitting in Oprah's chair from the old set.

Sally Lu told us we were all cute!

It was windy in the "Windy City."

We are going to live across Lake Michigan this summer.

We rode the Ferris Wheel which was fun! It was a beautiful warm spring day.
