Gretta's 3 year old pictures

Isn't she darling!!! We love you Gretta!

My friend Jordan took Gretta's pictures. Check out some of her other pictures at http://jordansphotoblog.blogspot.com/

Great Deals!

Gretta's preschool had a "Clean out your closet sale." I took advantage of the opportunity to clean out my closet and gave them 4 bags of cloths. It was a "Win/Win" situation for everyone.

All of the money they earned at the sale went to a mission in Boyle Heights. Last Thursday was the sale, and I splurged and spent $8. I bought Gretta tap shoes, a baby crib for her doll, a DVD game, a mobile just like baby Jackson has for Eliza, and a whole bunch of books. They were 4 for $1.

Then on Friday Linda and I went to the sample sale. I found some great deals. This is a new out fit I bought Gretta for $10. It is kind of like the blue/white polka dot pants and blue shirt set I bought at the sample sale 2 years ago for $10 that she still wears on a weekly basis. It has gone from being pants to being shorts. I have a feeling this might be her new favorite "samples sale" purchase.

New favorite outfit(The blue outfit)

Linda bought the girls matching outfits. Gretta didn't want to model hers because she didn't want to take her new "favorite"outfit off.

Eliza's 9 month well check up

Eliza had her 9 month well check up today. It was a little bit late, but better late than never. She is doing great!
Here are her stats:

height 29 inches--- 90%
weight 22 pounds---92%
Head circumference 45 cm---80%
My failure to thrive kid has definitely started thriving.

Some of her resent tricks are: Eliza is...
1. babbling- she still loves to say da da the best, but her new word is uh-oh. She just likes to sing and make sounds too.
2. grabbing for everything. I have to be careful how close she is to everything or the next thing I know she is pulling it down. The other day I was standing by the refrigerator holding her and the next thing I knew she had pulled some of the papers off of it.
3. becoming more mobile. She can stand up for a long time now. She is also scooting backwards. She still can't really move forwards, but she is getting close. Gretta is cheering her on and trying to teach her how to crawl.
4. trying new foods. She still likes to feed herself more than being feed, but at least she has been willing to try some new foods lately.
5. rocking out to the beat. Eliza loves any kind of music.
6. growing teeth. She now has 4 teeth. One top front tooth, and three bottom front teeth.
7. wants to be part of the action. She hates being left along and will cry if I leave her sight for a few seconds.
8. loves her big sister. Gretta can always make Eliza laugh.

We love you!!!

Trying to show off some of her moves.

Resting on the job.

Isn't she cute!!!

Gretta visits the Dentist and a rainy day suprise!

Friday was unusual day in Southern California. It rained! In the morning Gretta had a dentist appointment. Techniquely she has been to see the dentist during her yearly team visit. The two times she has been to see them they gave me grief for at least 10 minutes because she hadn't been to see the dentist yet, and asked me multiple questions like... "How many times a day do you brush her teeth? How much soda does she drink? What have you done to get her to stop sucking her thumb?" Then they would look in her mouth and say,"Looks great!"

However this year were weren't so lucky because they stopped taking our dental insurance. So I figured it was time to make her an appointment to see the dentist Eric and I go to. Her trip was also spurred on by the fact that she kept asking to go because she is convinced that if you don't go to the dentist all of your teeth will fall out. I am not quite sure where she learn that. I thinkit might have come from "Sid the Science Kid". In preparation for going to the Dentist we started talking about it, practiced "counting" her teeth, and read, "Dora goes to the Dentist." She was very excited, and even more excited because Eric went too. She got to see him in the chair having the dentist look at his teeth too. She did great. She even let them polish her teeth. The good news is that she doesn't have any cavities. Yeah!!!

She looks so small in the big chair.

Ready and excited.

She was a great patient.
Then after the dentist appointment we went to the library for reading time. That was a big success. The problem was what to do next? Usually we go to the park with girls from Church on Friday afternoon, but since it was raining we just went home. I was a little worried beacause we had been warned of a planned power outage in our building on Friday from 8am until 3pm, and was really hoping that the power would be on when we got home. We saw the people coming just as we were leaving for the dentist.
When we arrived home luckily the power was on. However, it never went off, so maybe due to the rain they will have to come back later.
We were greeted with some packages at the door. Gretta LOVES packages and espcially when they are for her.
Nana you saved the day!!! It was so much fun to play with Gretta's princess tent. It was a great rainy day activity. Eliza loves the jumparoo too.

Gretta showing off.

Happy as can be!!!

Thank you Nana!!!

Disneyland on MLK day

On Martin Luther King Jr Day we went to Disneyland with Linda and their family friend Sandra who was visiting from Guatemala. We had a fun day. The best part was that we had a front line pass for "Finding Nemo" so we didn't have to wait in line a all. Yeah!!!

Getting ready for "Nemo"

One tired Gretta. We actually only stayed until about 2:30pm. Gretta was really tired and complained that her head hurt. Then the worst part of the day was on the way home when Gretta threw up EVERYWHERE. She also had a fever of 102, and complained her throat hurt. After a trip to the doctors office and a strep test we found out she had strep. Poor kid. She was such a good sport considering she didn't feel that well. It's a good thing we live so close to Disneyland, so we didn't stay all day.
