Spring Break Fun

Gretta has Spring Break from preschool this week. It didn't really change our week much, but it was fun to hang out with some of our friends who were on Spring Break. We went to the Bean with the Burts.
Gretta & Eliza especially like the Liger a cross between a lion and tiger. "Sandy" came from the Hogle Zoo.
Gretta loves to play mom. She loves to pretent that she is me and I am her 10 year old child. After we got home from lunch at McDonald's with some of our other friends Gretta and Eliza sure had fun playing in the Mini Van.

Happy Birthday Banner

Tonight for an MBASA activity we made "Happy Birthday" Banners. With the help of some friends I was able to complete the craft! Usually I hate crafts, but this one was easy and fun. Plus the company was great!
So now we have a nice Happy Birthday Banner to hang as a family tradition.

Saying good bye to the Harts

This year we have been carpooling to preschool with the Harts. I shouldn't say carpooling because I only pick up on Tuesday afternoon, and Katie or her sister in law take and pick up on the other days. I got the best end of the deal! Caleb is in Gretta's class at preschool. Keller, his cousin, is a grade older. After I get the kids at Kids Village we swing by and pick Maddi up at Kindergarten. Gretta has really enjoyed getting to know and forming a friendship with Maddi & Caleb.

Their dad graduates from the MBA program this month. We will miss them and wish them success with their new adventures.

My Plant

When my Oma Snyder died my Aunt Marie gave all of the grandchildren a start from one of her plants. The plant lived at my parent's house in Boise until after my mission. Then I took it to Provo. It did well in Provo. When we moved to California it almost died. I am still not quite sure if it was the heat, bugs or just the change of climate, but it really almost died. I left one leaf with my friend Shelley Cannon when we went out of town for a week and she breathed some life back into it. I am happy to stay that it really likes Provo and is thriving!

Eliza was the first one awake. I tried to keep her away, but that didn't last too long.

Then I didn't watch her too well and this is what happened...

I think she was digging through it to find the gum. She is obsessed with gum currently. She doesn't chew it, but eats it like candy and then begs for another piece. When you don't give it to her she has a huge melt down. We are on gum rationing at our house. She even tried to take a piece of gum out of my mouth once after I was chewing it she is so obsessed.

Then we looked outside and saw this... TONS OF SNOW! The day before it was beautiful outside.

In between session we invited 3 other first year MBA families over for brunch. There were 8 adults and 11 kids. It was kind of crazy considering it was going to be nice outside and the kids could eat outside. The good news is the kids all played nicely together in the play room.

Most of the snow had melted off by 1:00pm, so we braved having the hunt outside.

The kids all got about 10 eggs, so it was very successful.

Getting ready for bed Gretta bore her testimony. She wanted to also share her picture of President Monson. She was so excited every time he came on the screen during conference.
It was a wonderful Easter Sunday full of great messages, good friends and family. Most importantly it was wonderful to celebrate our Saviors Resurrection and know that He has risen.
I am grateful for my testimony of my Savior.

The morning started with having a tea party with Daddy

Then we went to the Provo City Easter Egg Hunt. I should have known it would be a bad idea because it was free.
Our kids were in different age groups 2 & under and then 3-5 so we split up. Eric took Gretta and I went with Eliza.
Just before they blew the whistle they reminded everyone that this was for the kids. After the whistle Eric saw a Dad dash out and pick up one of the golden eggs and then keep going and pick up a second one. For the kids right? Where was his kid? Eric never saw him?
Needless to say Gretta only got one egg and others had a full basket.
My experience with Eliza wasn't much better. Right after the whistle we moved forward at Eliza's speed, and that wasn't fast enough. All I saw after that were Dad's butt cracks as they bent down to pick up all of the eggs for their kids and boxed us out. Finally we were able to break through, but Eliza only got 3 eggs. She gave one to Gretta, so they each ended up with two.
Not quite the quality of the South Pas Easter egg hunt. They made you pay $5 a child, but they didn't let the parents help with the hunt and had lots of fun activities for the kids.
I don't think we will be going next year. Hopefully it won't be on Conference weekend and we will go to the one at Thanksgiving Point. Luckily we are having our own tomorrow.
