Chinese New Year Party

Gretta and I have been planning our Chinese New Year party ever since the magazine for Oriental Trader arrived featuring items for Chinese New Year. Gretta has turned in to a big party planner. She loves to help with the decorations and party list. She was sad I wouldn't let her invite more people to our Chinese New Year Party. To bad we don't have a bigger house with more tables and chairs or I would have let her.
We invited our neighbors the Dave & Cheryl Williams. Dave is a first year MBA student and their oldest son is in the Chinese Immersion Program at the local school. We also invited the Burt who are friends from church who's daughter is in the Chinese Immersion Program class too. Cheryl  brought some great fried rice, and chicken stir fry noodle dish that was amazing. Steph Burt was nice enough to make moon cakes. They are lots of work. We bought some take out to complete the meal. We sure enjoyed a great meal with friends and celebrating Chinese New Year.
My Chinese roommates from my BYU days called me an egg. White on the outside and yellow on the inside because I loved Hong Kong and Chinese food so much.
The kids had a great time at the kids table too. In Hong Kong they use the newspaper as the table cloth so that you can spit the bones from your food right on the table and then they just throw the whole thing away. The same idea worked great for the kids table!
