Alaskan Cruise- Part 1- Depature, At Sea Day and Juneau

August 8, 2010

Our Alaskan Cruise left out of Seattle. Our cruise ship docked right down town.  Seattle was hosting Seafair that weekend so this battle ship was parked right next to us, and we also saw the Blue Angles. This was the first time I had been to Seattle. It was a cool city. We got a nice view as we landed at the airport. We went to church at the Seattle 1st Ward and ran into a friend of mine from Rick's College. We also meet up with one of Eric's MBA buddies. He is living the dream working for Amazon.
A great view during dinner.

August 9, 2010 - At Sea

Most of the day the view from the ship looked like this...FOG.
They were blowing the fog horn about ever 10 mins.

A little break in the fog lets you see how beautiful the landscape is.
Eric conquered the climbing wall.

August 10, 2010- Juneau, AK
It was a little cold and foggy, but we still had a great day. Eric was laughing because I had at least 4 layers on and it was a really good thing my Dad lent me his jacket for the week.
I don't think I am destine to live in Alaska.
We headed off to to see the glacier.
The pictures of the Mendenhall Glacier don't really do it justice. It has this really cool blue hue to it.

My cousin, Scott Lockie and his wife, Emily, and their son Alden live in Juneau. Emily and Alden came to meet up with us at the glacier and we hiked to the waterfall.

Then we went to see their house and to great Thai food. The place had a wait and was packed. Who would have thought Juneau would have such great Thai food.
After dinner we went to Emily's parents house. Emily's mom fosters raptors that can't be placed back in the wild. We got to meet Phil the Falcon.

And Ernie the Eagle. Ernie is a baby Eagle that was pushed out of the nest to early.  He is about 5 months old.
Poor Scott had to work until 8:30, so we picked him up and then went back to the Cruise Ship. We did save him some Thai food. It was a short visit, but it was still good to see them.
