Road Trip Home Day #1-Michigan to Nauvoo, IL Day #2 Nauvoo to Exeter, NE

We were able to get everything in the car. Yeah! For a while I was afraid some of our stuff was going to get left behind. We left St. Joseph's about 9:30 am and headed to Nauvoo, IL. The girls did great during the drive. Nauvoo is a little bit hard to get to, but worth the effort.
Saturday we made it time to see a play and I was able to go to the Temple. Then that night we went to the Pageant about Joseph Smith.
Waiting for the show to start.
The whole cast on stage with the Temple in the background.
Poor little Eliza slept through the whole show. It was great! Very faith inspiring and moving.
Sunday morning we went to church at 8am with 750 of our friends. I have never been to such a large sacrament meeting. Most of the congregation were single sister missionaries, young preforming missionaries and senior missionary couples. It was impressive to see them prepare and pass the sacrament to so many people. After church we took some pictures by the Temple.

The girls outside of our hotel. Mom does this picture look familiar?

The Inn we stayed at.
Then we went down to historic Nauvoo. Our first stop was the shoe making shop and then the blacksmith shop. At each place they tell you about the family who lived and worked in that shop/place and also give you something or have an activity to do. At the blacksmith show we got prairie diamond rings.

The school house
All ready to tired to walk. Good thing they weren't pioneers.

Smith Family Burial Blot where Joseph & Emma Smith are buried.

We sure had a great time in Nauvoo and can't wait for our next trip there which will be longer. We could have stayed 3 days.
We left Nauvoo around 1:30 and headed to Exeter, Nebraska where Eric's cousins the Songster's live.

Eliza entertaining herself in the car. This was one of the longest legs of the trip and we were in a hurry. Gretta got car sick which wasn't fun, but we made it safe and sound. Yeah!
They had a big family dinner for us including some of cousin Annie's famous pies. Gretta found a great friend in Laney and can't wait to visit her again.
More about the farm later.
