The MOVE

August 4, 2009
Packing day!!! Or I should say packing the truck day. The Fors' came over on Saturday August 2nd and helped us finish up packing. I figured it would take 2 hours if 6 people were all helping. Boy was I wrong! It took us all day plus Eric and I had to go over on Monday to finish up. We moved into the Fors house on Saturday which made it a lot easier. There are sure a lot of things you don't remember having when you start packing. Plus, I think every time I opened a kitchen cupboard it had more stuff it it. It was crazy!

Tuesday morning I went off to work and Eric went to get the van. The AC was broken in the first van he picked up. Luckily, he figured it out on his way to our apartment, not after the whole van was packed. So back to Penske for another truck. Then some nice guys from our ward came over to help and we hired 2 guys for the big stuff. They had to send the sofa out over the balcony to get it out of the apartment. It took them about 2 hours to pack the truck and then Eric had to finish up checking out of the apartment, etc.
Then he went to run some errands with his mom and the girls.
Once I got home from work we went back to get the Van and drive it over to the Fors. When we arrived Eric couldn't find the van keys. We looked everywhere. We called his mom to look at the house and she couldn't find them. We said a prayer and decided to go back to the Fors and look again. One the way home Linda called and she siad the keys were at Costco. They had gone to Costco eariler that day to pick up Eric's contacts. It was truly a miracle. First, that someone noticed one key on a key chain and, second, that they turned them in. So we headed to Costco to pick up the key.

The finishing touches. The van is 100% full.

Provo here we come Part 1

We got up bright and early and were on the road by 6:30am. Linda drove in the Infiniti with me and the girls and Eric was in the truck by himself. We were able to go a little faster than Eric and took advantage of that while the girls were still asleep.

Our first stop was Primm, NV. We got out for a little pit stop and to run around the mall for a few minutes.
Then it was back in the car.

The bird show at Primm

Then our next stop was Las Vegas. We stopped at Circus Circus around 11:30am. I bought Gretta a pass to ride the kiddie rides and we had a good time. Linda even got to go on one with her. Eliza just enjoyed being able to run around. She was already pretty tired of her car seat.
The trunk almost did't shut, but luckily it did.

riding the train

Not so sure about the car moving.

The car full.

The car was stuffed to the brim. Eliza didn't have much leg room. Luckily she didn't need it.

We stopped in St. George and stayed with Linda's friend, Connie, that night. We arrived around 2:30pm. Eric and Linda took the girls swimming at Connie's indoor pool
Later we drove by the St. George Temple. It was a beautiful night.
The trunk really wouldn't shut on the Infiniti after we took all of the stuff out for the night. Eric and I tried everything we could think of. We even called AAA hoping they would be able to help. The guy came and looked at it, but his advice was to get bungee cords to hold it down. So that is what we did.

Provo here we come!!!

We left Connie's house early and decided that if we let the girls out of the car we might never get them back in the car, so we drove straight to Provo. We got to Provo around 12:30pm.

Eliza not enjoying the car ride.

Gretta taking a picture of me in the car.

Gretta bored!

The Destination

Tom, our landlord, meet us with the key and walked me though the house. Isn't it beautiful!!! We are so excited! The front lawn has a tree swing and it has a nice back yard for the girls to play in. They just finished remodeling it this summer, so it is really nice inside. Plus, it is really close to campus.

I am so excited to have my own washer and dryer!!!

Darron, Eric's brother, some family friends and some guys from our new ward all came to help unload. They had it all unloaded in about 2 hours. Then the real work of trying to find spots for everything got started.
My trucking husband!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped us along the way. Both of our families have been really supportive. We couldn't have done it without everyone's help.
THANK YOU!!!

Phew! What an adventure! Glad you made it safely. In some ways I wish we could live in Utah. My grandfather always called Provo his Shangi-La. In some ways I'd have to agree with him. Have fun. Glad you found such a nice place.
