I had two funny conversations I forgot to write about yesterday.
First in the morning the maid came to me with a pair of Eliza's underwear very concerned about something. We had to use google translate to get the whole thing figured out. She was concerned because she didn't think the underwear was comfortable enough and she wanted to let me know she knows of a good cheap place to buy new underwear for the girls. Eliza was home with me and if you know Eliza you know she is very picky about clothes and will only wear one particular kind of sock, so when I asked Eliza if she wanted new underwear the answer of course was no. I think Teresa was shocked, but must have chalked it up to those "weird Americans".
Also when we went to the swimming pool with our neighbors. The youngest girl was having a very in depth conversation about something with her mom. When it was over. Dani explained to me that Bia was very concerned about my swim suit and how was I going to swim in a swim suit with so much fabric. I had my tankini top on with my skirt bottom.
Her mom was wearing a g-string bikini. She told Bia my swim suit was typical of American and that we were more clothes when swimming.
I didn't realizes our swimsuits would be the article of clothing that causes us most to stick out as Americans!!!
Even the bikinis I see at Silver Beach back home look modest compared to most swim suits here.
I figure I must not look to out of place walking the streets of Sao Paulo because three times in the last week walking Carli to school someone asked me for directions. I guess it's only in my swim suit I really sick out! LOL!!!
Eric dropped Carli off at preschool this morning. I went to pick her up and the teacher told me there had been a little problem and another child bit Carli. She has upper and lower teeth marks on her left arm. Luckily it didn't break the skin. I was actually glad she wasn't the one who bit the other child. In fact I am still a little worried what she did to cause the child to bit her.
Other than that the report of the day was positive and Carli was tired when I picked her up. It was her longest day at school yet. 8:30 to 11:50.
It's the first time I have picked her up at normal pick up time, and when I got there to pick her up there were a lot of grandparents inline waiting. Grandma's and Grandpa's all dressed very nicely. I had my green maxi skirt and white shirt on and I think some of them thought I must be the nanny because they got up off the bench after I sat down. The nannies wear white uniforms or white shirts. LOL. Oh well. It doesn't help I can't talk with them.
After I picked her up we walked to the grocery store to buy lunch. I had noticed a nice pastry counter and figured we would go check it out. I only took D$20 with me which is about $10USD. The guys in line before me ordered nice sandwiches, that looked good. So I was able to communicate that's what I wanted too. Then for Carli I picked out a triangle pastry.
Since we were at the store I decided to get some groceries, but I had forgotten I didn't have my whole wallet which was a problem when I got to the check out. I end up being able to explain what happened well enough to get them to take a few things back, so I had enough money. I had bought the girls treats for when they got home today. Yesterday the neighbor gave them the lime crackers and they LOVED them. Another favorite is the chocolate wafer crackers which I actually think we have at home, but I never buy. I had enough money for those for the girls and the cucumber and tomatoes I needed, but not for the Citrus soda I am currently obsessed with. I was a bit sad. It's a pregnancy craving for sure. The citrus soda is amazing! I am going to have to go buy some later. I have been thinking about it all afternoon.
My sandwich was delicious and for less than $2.50 USD I am going to have to go another day. Carli loved her pastry too. She at the WHOLE thing. It was filled with shredded chicken. Her's was about $1.30 USD.
She makes a ROYAL mess every time she eats. I don't let her keep her clothes on any more during meal times. Today she helped me clean up her mess. Isn't she cute help!
