Driving around this weekend Gretta remarked that she missed the Minivan. It's a little tight in the back with two boosters and a car seat. In fact one of the other seat belts is under Carli's car seat, so Eric or I have to help who ever is sitting there get buckled in.
I miss our Minivan too is a lot of ways, but in other ways I can't imagine driving my HUGE minivan down small streets where lane lines are only a "suggestion". I have seen people go straight from the left lane and left from the middle lane all while moto bikes weave in and out. It's really amazing there aren't more accidents.
Plus parking is an issue every where. I wish I would have taken a picture of the Church parking lot on Sunday. People were triple parked. I haven't noticed a big difference in personal space with people, but they have a much small "personal space" bubble with cars.
Here are two of our parking spots. We have the front and back and then actually a third that's a front, but we don't have the back, so this one is the easiest to park in. Can you imagine parking my minivan in this space?
Today while walking to the market with Carli we saw something only my dad could truly appreciate. Part of the road is torn up and there was a large construction crew dressed in orange jumpsuits out fixing it. I would say about 10 guys. I couldn't really figure out what the plan to fix it was. Plus it looks like a break in a water line also might be involved because there was a lot of water. Going to the store they were working hard and then coming home I noticed they were all standing around and looking at a lady in a while hard hat. She was dressed in a nice tank top blouse and skinny jeans with work boots. After she served the project she walked across the street and started talking on her cell phone, and the guys went back to work. It made me think of one of my dad's safety officers who often shows up in high heals to a job site.
I would have taken a picture, but I didn't have my camera.
Today Carli went to school for a little longer and she seems to really enjoy it. When we left early the kids were going to the playground and for a second I think she was actually sad we were leaving.
Also the cleaning lady , Teresa, we hired from the ward came today and she was awesome!!! She did an amazing job. Cleaning this apartment with all of its black dust and hardwood floors and 3 bathrooms is an overwhelming task for me being pregnant, so I am so grateful we found good help.
Plus its so nice to be able to trust her. Gretta wasn't feeling well at school and I needed to go get her, and I was able to leave Carli home asleep with Teresa while I went an got her. I was so proud of myself because I didn't get lost going to her school and only made on wrong turn coming home and it's because I believe Gretta's directions.
The other highlight of the night was Eric's friend from MBA school, Jeremy Reese, coming to dinner. Not only did he come over to dinner he brought dinner with him! It's the first night I haven't cooked since we got here. We had great pizza and breaded meat. I wish I had taken a picture of it.
Eric and Jeremy were in the same 1st year group during MBA school and became great friends. It was good to see him and even better he brought dinner!
Thanks Jeremy!!!
