First day of Bilingual School

Gretta and Eliza got on the bus headed to their first day of school today. They were super excited. Let's hope it stays that way.
The report at lunch time from the school was that the girls were both doing well and making new friends. I can't wait to here the end of school report.
Kindergarten is actually still in the "preschool" here in Brazil, so Gretta and Eliza are at sister schools across the street from each other.
Coming to Brazil Eliza was the most nervous about going to school down here. At first she kept saying she wasn't going to go. Then she promised me she would go for 5 days and if she liked it keep going. That was actually better than her first day of EP Clarke. She told me she was only going for 1 day and then if she liked it she would go back. But after the tour of her school yesterday and finding out she gets to go swimming, have art class, music, gym, they have a fun playground and her teacher speaks English she was super excited today. Gretta was the one so excited to go to school down here, but after her school tour where the school just looked like a school without a playground she wasn't as excited. There are 2 American's in 1st grade and for a while they thought putting her in 1st grade with them would be best, but she insisted on going to 2nd grade. Luckily she will be with a teacher all day that speaks English.
The good news is that I think it will be a great experience for them and since it's still too cold to swim in the pool at the condo complex and we haven't seen many kids their age around I think they are actually looking forward to making some new friends too.
Lucky for me there is a bus that will pick them up at our condo complex door and drop them off after school here too. The school is within walking distance, but it is down and across a major road without great sidewalks. I was going to attempt driving them to school, but driving here is a little crazy and some what difficult even though the school is so close due to the major road and lots of one ways.  I am so glad they can ride the bus and they are so excited about it.
