Halloween

This note came from Carli's school today. I am super impressed it came in English. I learned a few things about Halloween. How about you?

Dear Parents,

Our children are already in the mood for Halloween. The celebration at will be next Thursday,
Oct/31, during their class time. The students can wear costumes, bring their costumes in their bags or
just wear the typical Halloween colors: orange, purple and black. We will have games and competitions
such as “Toss to the Cauldron”, “Make a Skeleton”, “Dress the Scarecrow”, among others. There will
also be Witch´s house, cooking and “Trick or Treat”. It will be really spooky!!

DID YOU KNOW?

There weren’t pumpkins in the United Kingdom. They have originated in North America and they got
popular at Halloween when the party was brought there by the Scottish and Irish immigrants.
The British used to use turnips to decorate their celebrations.

About Halloween colors:
Orange: color that brings vitality, energy and strength. It was believed that spirits would approach the
ones who wore orange in order to suck their energy.
Black: prevailing color of wizards, witches and sorcerers of the darkness masters.
Purple: symbolizes the magic present at the Halloween celebration.
We will be looking forward to seeing you there. You can’t miss it!!
