Day #1

We arrived around 7am and by the time we went through immigration, got out luggage, customs and drove home we didn't get here until around 11am. We looked around the condo a bit and got unpacked a little and then we walked to McDonald's for lunch because it's right on the way to the girls school. The girls got a big kick out of eating McDonald's in another country. The only other country they have been to is Mexico and we didn't eat at McDonald's in Mexico.
We actually didn't end up walking the rest of the way to their school because we ran out of time because Eric had to go pick up the car from the HR lady at work.
While Eric was gone and Carli was napping. Gretta and Eliza rode scooters around a circle in the apartment.
Then once Eric got home we went out to Baby Beef for dinner which is a Churrascaria. We read in the new comers book that people take their kids out to dinner late at night, but I didn't really believe it until we were at the restaurant. It was a super nice place and there were kids running around everywhere and no one seemed to care. The family at the table next to us pulled out the mini ipad and had the kid watch a movie with no headphones. Carli found quite a few other friends and was giving hugs to their moms. She is great at making friends! Then the girls saw two moms spinning their kids around in a chair and had to get in on the action. A waiter came by and in America they would have given you the evil eye or made some comment about bring kids to such a nice restaurant, or that maybe that wasn't appropriate, but here he just told me how beautiful my kids were!
Baby Beef is right next to a super Walmart kind of shopping center and we went and got some groceries. Once again I couldn't believe how many kids were in the store. It was super helpful to have Eric with me because there was a whole row of different kinds of milk and I couldn't figure out what kind to buy. It's going to take me a while to figure out what we like and what everything is, but I was surprised by the selection and that stuff wasn't really as expensive as people had told me. We spend about $125. I am sure I will have to go back again next week, but it was a start.
The only super stressful part was when all of Eric's cards keep getting declined. Then I realized I am sure the credit card company is freaking out because in the last week we bought 5 tickets to Brazil, and spend an unusual amount of money on the card and then started using it in Brazil. Luckily Eric was able to find a card that worked and we got the credit cards/debit cards all fixed today.

Riding scooters around the apartment. Eliza's was surprised to find a scooter in the luggage, but Eric bought it for her just before we left and hide it in the bins. She is excited to be part of the scooter gang with her sister. Gretta has her suit on all ready to go the pool.
